About Us


The Crest Forest Fire Protection District (CFFPD) provides a variety of services to the San Bernardino Mountain communities of Agua Fria, Blue Jay, Cedar Pines Park, Crestline, Rim Forest, Twin Peaks and Valley of Enchantment. The approximate District resident population served is 25,000, while the summertime population may double with vacationers.

   The District operates two full time stations and five paid call stations. The department headquarters is located at Station (25) and the career administrative staff consists of the Fire Chief, two Division Chiefs, a fire specialist (prevention), a part- time Inspector, a part-time receptionist, a contract Finance Officer and the Fire Mechanic. The floor personnel run a three platoon shift (48 on/96 off) and consist of six fire Captains, six Engineers, nine Firefighter/paramedics and three additional limited term Firefighters/paramedics. Eleven of the career staff is also cross-trained as paramedics. Station 25 runs five personnel per shift and staffs ME-25 and MA-25 full time. Our second full time station is Station 26 which is located in Twin Peaks. Station 26 runs three personnel per shift and staffs ME-26 and MA-26. Both stations can staff other response vehicles as needed.

The District paid call (P.C.F.) stations are located in Cedar Pines Park (Station 24), alongside are full time personnel in Twin Peaks (Station 26), (Lake Gregory (Station 29), Rim Forest (Station 30), and Valley of Enchantment (Station 28). Approximately 35 P.C.F. staff supplement emergency response as needed. Also, twelve Support Services volunteers assist in meeting the District’s mission.

One additional station is located in Agua Fria (Station 27) and is used to store the reserve ambulance and Crest One, the 1929 Studebaker. Station 27 also acts as the District warehouse.

Crest Forest Fire Protection District covers 23 square miles of initial response areas. District boundaries include San Bernardino city limits to the South via Highway 18, Lake Silverwood to the North, West to Cedar Pines Park and Blue Jay to the East.

The District operates a total fleet of emergency response vehicles valued at just under three million dollars that is maintained by the District Fire Mechanic. As of July 1st 2009, the fleet will consist of six fire engines, one brush engine, four ambulances, two snow cats, one light rescue, one front loader, one water tender, three staff vehicles, two brush patrols, one utility, a mechanic’s vehicle, a support service van, and a support service module.

The District currently runs around 2,100 calls, and is increasing every year. The breakdown goes as follows: Medical aids- 1,276, hazardous conditions no fire-345, false alarms- 68, fires- 74, public assist- 191 and good intent calls- 168.

The Crest Forest Fire Protection District is run by an elected Board of Directors who operate with a 5 million dollar budget. The District wants their citizens to be able to clearly understand that the budget decisions of the Board, the operational decisions of the management, and the tactical decisions of the staff in the field are all interrelated and directed at serving the community in the best and most cost-effective manner possible.
